Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Speaking Engagements, the Fulfillment Manager manages the logistics of over 100 events a year. We also sell products at many of these events to help earn revenues that fund our nonprofit and charitable work. The Fulfillment Manager is responsible for helping execute daily operations in these areas including but not limited to:

• Collaborate with event organizers at client organizations for speaking engagements to ensure event details related to the merchandise and resource table are fulfilled
• Partner with shipping vendor to ensure merchandise and resource materials are shipped to event organizers and arrive at correct location on time
• Secure, schedule and train volunteers to staff the because I said I would Resource Table at events across the country
• Manage the fulfillment process that sends out products, Promise Cards and other necessary shipments
• Train and maintain a schedule of volunteers based on order volumes to ensure Promise Cards and other necessary shipments arrive to requester on time
• Monitor inventory and forecast needs based on upcoming events; placing orders with vendors as necessary
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with suppliers, supporters, clients and other third parties
• Communicate with customers over email, on the phone, or in person to ensure customer satisfaction
• Create reporting for profit/loss and revenue per attendee comparing event sales to cost of goods sold, shipping costs, and other factors
• Manage the online retail store
• Assist in the research, evaluation and execution of new products (e.g., t-shirts, journals, etc.)
• Create marketing material, sales/promotional campaigns and write product descriptions
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Qualified candidates will have an outstanding attention to detail, event planning experience, strong verbal and written communication skills, experience in working with vendors and customers and a college education or equivalent work experience.

The ability to work a non-standard work week including being on call during event times to cover emergencies
• Able to lift 35 - 60 pounds on a regular basis
• Strong technical aptitude or ability to learn technical software systems and processes
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Hospitality Management or equivalent degree and professional experience
• Excellent organization skills and experience with event, inventory and vendor management
• Strong ability to manage simultaneous/spontaneous projects and work assignments with grace under pressure
• Must be detail-oriented, resourceful and highly organized
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, professional working environment
• Ability to interact with variety of audiences, from college students to senior professionals

Preferred Skills

Experience in ecommerce sales and fulfillment (such as eBay, ETSY or other online store), shipping/mailing experience, supervisory experience, or retail management experience. Experience in developing a promotional product line and/or product marketing plan.

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the Director of Development serves as a critical team member and an active participant in making strategic development decisions for because I said I would. In partnership with the Founder, this position is responsible for board development, all fundraising and development activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build because I said I would’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Director of Development will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.

The Director of Development will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the foundation needed to grow a 2 million in funding through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support.

This position will diversify because I said I would funding sources and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the Director of Development will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.

It is expected that the amount raised by because I said I would will increase in future years as the Director of Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Actively work with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.
• Build relationships with corporation and major donors according to a fundraising process
• Recruit candidates for board of directors’ positions and manage board related processes and programs
• Create fundraising programs that can be executed by Chapter member in geographically distributed areas.
• Establish a grant writing process, write grants to support our chapter program and character education programming.
• Act as an internal consultant for all charitable program to recommend improvements to increase impact an make it easier to secure funding for programs
• Collaborate with the Founder to develop and implement because I said I would’s financial strategy
• Create detailed financial forecasts to help position because I said I would ahead of major funding changes or trends
• Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to Board and Executive Leadership Team Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
• Manage and influence employees, volunteers and stakeholders

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• +7 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
• Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
• Strong organizational skills
• Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
• Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside because I said I would
• High energy and passion for because I said I would’s mission is essential
• Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

As a Communications Intern you will be responsible for the ongoing communication for the promotion of the local BISIW Chapters through digital and traditional channels including but not limited to Facebook, Community Boards, Flyers, Press Releases and E-mail. The Communications Leader must be available 5-10 hours per week.

• Curating relevant and local content for the individual Chapter Facebook pages
• Assisting in the creation of the monthly media guide sent to all other communications volunteers
• Interacting with media channels on behalf of BISIW by sending out press releases as well as drafting and pitching stories on our volunteer projects
• Assist with the marketing and promotion of local Chapter by visiting network/marketing events, Chapter events, and distributing marketing materials there (e.g. flyers, Chapter business cards, etc.)
• Fostering relationships within your local community through networking and outreach
• Attend monthly Chapter Meetups, Unified Promises and planning calls as needed

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Coursework in marketing, communications, journalism

Supervised by the Fulfilment Manager, this is a great opportunity to assist with data entry and processes necessary for the packing and shipping of promise cards, supplies and merchandise to because I said I would events, chapters and supporters. Although not required, this role will also be invited to attend regular weekly staff meetings and other staff-organized activities. Training will be provided. Typical activities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Preparing event supplies for shipment
• Assisting with special projects that may include folding, cutting and printing needs
• Packing, weighing, labeling and shipping merchandise and supplies
• Counting promise cards
• Data entry for leads and lead verification
• Uploading event photos and contact information in the database
• Data entry for chapter, speaking engagement, fundraising, newsletter and character education inquiries from events

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Use of MS office suite – basic Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Candidate must be available for a consistent weekly schedule (can be determined with the Fulfilment Manager).
• Detail oriented with numbers

• Experience with shipping procedures and protocol
• Salesforce experience a plus
