In July of 2011, Tara Burns was rushed to Rose Medical Center due to severe complications during her fifth month of pregnancy. After examinations, the doctors concluded that the baby needed to be delivered early. After eight hours in the operating room and 29 blood transfusions, her son Beckett August Burns tragically did not survive delivery. Tara told us the story of that night at the because I said I would Denver Chapter meetup last month. She said that without blood donations she would not be alive. In memory of her son, Tara advocates for those in need of blood.
Our Denver chapter members made a unified promise that night. They promised that they would go to a nonprofit blood center and make a small sacrifice. Thank you to the 14 members who made this commitment for Coloradans in need.
